Ft Benning Georgia to be renamed.
« on: April 11, 2023, 01:46:05 AM »
Yes, Ft Benning to be renamed...What a batch of crap !  The post was named for Gen Benning, CSA..it is foolish to try to extinguish
the deeds of heroes of the past.  A hero is a hero..leave them alone..

Gen Benning led "Benning's Brigade, under Gen John Bell Hood..  Oh have they renamed Ft Hood yet?...for shame..

Apparently Gen Moore is a very worthy general, but honor him, without dishonoring another...  Curiously, keeping pace with the PC
nature of much today, the post is being renamed for the Moore family..

Both my sons took their basic, and got their Airborne wings at Benning.

In fact, the nature of Communist revolutionaries is to destroy the proud history and traditions of Sovereign nations. , a situation we
can recognize as currently going on in the USA !

The USMC has a Maj General named Adams...a distinguishes pilot and commander.

..If PC is now calling for naming installations after whole families..perhaps the lefty led Pentagon can name some airstrip somewhere,
after the Adams family.   ;) :D

Yes,  it is
When they shut down John B Hood
school down the road, the black woman
that took over threw away all the trophies
and portraits and plaques with any mention
of John Bell Hood with no word from
anybody.  The large portrait in the main
entrance ( as was everything else) was
owned by the taxpayers and was very rare
and expensive and irreplaceable.
When Fort Hood is changed over, I
can see the bureaucratic mess that will
ensue from changing all the paperwork
and office supplies with Fort Hood
printed on them, and most of all the
problems veterans that served there
getting their service records screwed up.
That will be a very real scenario. I've
had bad problems with bureaucratic
types over businesses I've worked at
in the past that are now under a different
name, or have closed their doors and
since there's no current address and
phone number, the bureaucrats assume
out of hand that you've lied on whatever
form you had to fill out or sign.
Maps will have to be changed.
Signage has to be changed
It's not cheap in any way

Yes it is. Ft Benning was my military home for most of my service time. I was with the 11 Air Assault test there. Lots of good memories, as well as a few bad ones. I made several good friends at Benning, and lost a couple in a crash of one of the old choppers from the Korean war, before we got the  Chinooks for troop transport. I left before Col. More took over when they transitioned to the 7th air cav. Hal More may have been a great leader, and retired as a 2 star, but many others and I will always refer to that Fort in Ga. as Fort Benning. Regardless of the action taken by these woke bastards in the Biden Adm. to rewrite our history. Same with Ft. Hood and other posts named after Southern patriots..

Sau NW...   Has air assault by chopper, pretty much displaced the old parachute forces these days?  Not to say the parachutes forces have disappeared, but that many have converted over to either landing or dropping in by rope..

I have no idea what the military is up to these days. We were told at the time we started rappelling from the Huey's (1962 ), it had never been done by the US Army. I think the Marine Corp had done some prior to that.

During his deployments to Iraq, my grandson did the rappelling, especially when they did an insert of a small number of troops
among hostiles.  I don't recall him mentioning using a conventional parachute.

In fact, the USMC includes rappelling during their boot (basic) training..   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDf9TMALL9c

The combined arms concept is cutting across service branches.  It seems from now on, if the USMC requires tanks for an operation,
they will call upon the Army, since the Marines have dropped theirs.

I have a neighbor who served in Afghanistan with the 82nd, guess i can ask Brandon, if some are going 'chuteless' these days,

...Yes, his name is Brandon...just not that Brandon... ;)  :D  ;D
