That may be the most vague link in history. Pictures of some stitches, no victim information, no statement from the victim, no witness information, nuthin.

Many articles to be found dealing with this alleged attack.  The articles I read, didn't seem to doubt that those were actual bites or claw marks.
We did see a photo of the wounds suffered by the victim.  Of course, it could have been a bear, cougar or wolverine I guess..but I cannot fathom a reason why the man would change the identity of the animal that attacked him.

Here's his name and photo..  OK...so he was looking for mushrooms...but he still has the wounds to show for it.. ;) :D

Sorry I don't have much sympathy for people that are in an area that has animals that could injure or eat them, and they don't carry a firearm.

I hope that someday before the
world goes totally insane, that
some common sense returns to
the way things are done with
regards to our wildlife and agricultural
practices.
I've had to listen to so many boohoo
about the majestic wolves and cats
and such.  All those bounties that were
paid back then weren't for nothing.
The yuppies in the suburbs around here
are now finding out about coyotes and
bobcats and such.
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

I found other local news articles giving some more detail about the attack, and the alleged attack took place on private property, and the ODWF claims to be having difficulty entering property to investigate.   He claims to have fought it off with a metal bucket, he had for mushrooms. I am familiar  the Oregon Department Of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW)hunting unit he was mushroom hunting in, and according to the ODFW there are at least 5 breeding pairs of Gray wolves in that unit. One unit that I do most of my hunting in every year near me (Indigo) unit  near Roseburg Or. also listed with 5 breeding pairs. This information was from 2001. I have yet to see one, but know people who have. Wolves in Oregon usually have their young around this time of year, and I guess it's possible for a lone wolf guarding a den to attack someone or something getting too close to their den.

Hey...here's a thought..   I suppose there is nothing to stop a wolf from "losing it", just as some people do.

Then again, perhaps the wolf was eating the mushrooms.. ;)  ;D

...But seriously, it is not hard to conceive that the wolf could have gone haywire...and it's not easy to laugh off those wounds.
