Russia facing a civil war?
« on: June 24, 2023, 02:17:12 AM »
Probably the most effective part of the Russian army, is the mercenary force called the "Wagner Group".

Suddenly it seems, that group has turned upon Putin.  The have shot down some Russian aircraft over Ukraine, and turned from attacking the
Ukraine city of Bakhmut, and overwhelmed a Russian military nerve center city, called Rostov-on-Don.

     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Oci4p3iCTg

Looks like a possible civil war..
      https://www.foxnews.com/world/putin-vows-defend-russia-against-armed-rebellion-led-mercenary-chief-will-answer-for-it

That is not necessarily, good news for us or NATO..so it is vitally important that we have REAL leadership in Washington to effectively negotiate
  our way through this.

We can see how Putin has desperately tried to re-establish the old Soviet Union, so we don't know just how far he may go to save his sitter !

Keep in mind, he still commands thousands of nuclear warheads.

We are watching Twitter.  Wagner is now in Moscow.  Putin has flown to St. Petersburg.  Lots of planes leaving Moscow going to Russian friendly countries and to St. Petersburg.  We may be looking at a coup.  Putin may be out.  No resistance from the people to Wagner.  Very little military resistance.  Wagner with their radar and SAM missles has shot down a few Russian planes and helicopters on the way to Moscow.

Twitter is people on the ground giving information.

Some Russian forces are trying to disconnect bridges going over river to the center of Moscow trying to keep Wagner out.

I doubt Prigozhin would try a coup, if he didn't already have connections with oligarchs and other movers and shakers in Moscow..

Could be real...could be a play by Prigozhin, or a play between the two of them to gin up interest by the Russian public !

No Charges for Wagner Leader, Will Move to Belarus, Kremlin Says

Wagner mercenary force chief Yevgeny Prigozhin will move to Belarus under a deal brokered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to end an armed mutiny that Prigozhin had led against Russia's military leadership, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Lukashenko had offered to mediate, with Russian President Vladimir Putin's agreement, because he had known Prigozhin personally for around 20 years.

The announcement, carried on the official Telegram channel of the Belarusian presidency, said Prigozhin had agreed to halt the further movement of Wagner fighters across Russia.

Prigozhin said later on Saturday that he had ordered his fighters advancing on Moscow in convoy to turn around and return to their bases to avoid bloodshed. The Kremlin later confirmed a deal had been struck and that Prigozhin would have all charges against him dropped and move to Belarus.

"The president of Belarus, having further clarified the situation through his own available channels, held talks with the head of the Wagner PMC (private military company), Yevgeny Prigozhin, in coordination with the President of Russia," the Belarusian statement said.

"The talks lasted for an entire day. As a result, they came to an agreement on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloodbath on the territory of Russia.

Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted the offer of President Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of Wagner's armed men on Russian territory and to take further steps to de-escalate tensions."

Don't know who that is good or bad for, but it does leave Putin in control, probably/maybe. Let's hope it is good for the world.

knock putin out and theres the chance that someone worse takes over. Prigozhin for example. save tax money by not sending money to Ukraine? we all know the way this administration loves to spend money and know our taxes arent going down with the biden administration in control. it will just be spent buying crack pipes or given to welfare bums to buy votes or illegals crossing the border to buy future votes or spent on bogus green energy plans. with the democrats being afraid there going to lose power in 24 i fear all of this bs spending and socialist agenda bills being pushed through is going to be put in overdrive over the next year. there plan no doubt is to leave the biggest mess they possibly can so the next president no matter how hard he trys cant fix the country and the libs will crucify him to convince the half of this country thats brain dead that they were better off with democrats in control. some extra money saved by not giving it to Ukraine could possibly hurt us more then help. add to that that bidens spin doctors will find some bogus way to claim biden helped end this war and those same brain dead voters will believe it. i personaly almost want this war to continue a bit longer. it has drastically weakened putin and is a real world example of what china might face if they do the same

And Mr. Prigozhin will be found dead, under unknown/mysterious circumstances, by the end of the year.

Well, it does look like it played out.  It seems to have been about getting paid.  Russia not paying the Wagner Group.  It did stir up some fear of a coup.  Putin may now be worse and crack down more.  Seems like his troops need better training, or the war is getting very unpopular with the Russian people.  But, do they have fair elections to vote out Putin's party?  Does any nation today have really fair elections.  Seems like the same people get voted in over and over in the west.

Best thing we can do, is stay out of it. No matter which side we might back, would be the wrong move.
