bushnell 3200 question and price comparison
« on: March 21, 2004, 05:44:21 AM »
I was comparing the 3200 until I saw a post that the turret?, windage, elevation is glued on the tubed.  Is this true?   Would the glue separate over time?  Any opinions  are greatly appreciated.  Which scope would you buy?

I can get a weaver grand slam for $165.00 (trading in my old redfiled)
bushnell 3200                              $165.00
Burris  fullfield II                          $172.00
Leupold vx II                               $264.00

Thanks,

Bruce

Right now with out doubt, it would be the Bushnell 3200. Let your eyes be the judge. They also have a better warranty then Leupold to me. One year money back if not happy. No questions asked.

Easily the Bushnell Elite 3200, the easiest scope question of the year.

grouse doesn't the leupold have a life time warranty on there scope's? a friend at work bought some leupold's year's ago don't know want model they are but he said he has had them fixed about 5 time's over the past 30 year's and all he has paid was postage. If I scope the m97 it would be with the bushnell that is all I have bought in the past except the tasco that didn't hold up but to 10 shot's.

They pretty much last forever, don't they? I'll presume they were "fixed" because they failed five times.

The Bushnell Elite series scopes have a full lifetime transferable warranty if ever needed and that rainguard coating that works as claimed. Took one out in the winter from 75 degree house to minus 20 unheated shed and it was the only scope I could breath on and still was able to see thru well enough to shoot. I would recommend the fast focus eye piece if available.

I'd say any of those would be a fine choice.  I have not found the 3200 to have the optics of my VX-II scopes.  ALSO, my Weaver V-9 has NOTICEABLY better optics than my Bushnell 3200 3-9X40.

I'd probably lead towards the Grand Slam, expecially at that price.

Those glued turrets have no signs of wear on my 454 pistol.  If they can pass that test, they'll hold up on any long gun.  IMO.  Personally, I'm saving up for the 4200.  The extra money spent will be forgotten, the quality always appreciated.

I wouldn't get too worked up over "glue." There is no HQ scope made that does not have the lens stack secured by "glue". Except, that is of course "space age proprietary epoxy adhesive sealant."

Or, "good glue."

I would have to agree with Chuck in that if its the vari X ll Leupold it will be about equal to the 3200 Bushnell as they preformed about the same in scope tests I did on them about a year or so ago. The VX ll however is really almost identical to the older vari X lll in optics and would probably exceed the 3200 by a fair margin. The Weaver Grand Slam is very close in optics to the 4200 Bushnell and would probably be the brightest most resolute of the above mentioned scopes. I would however question whether Meade Instruments (Weavers owners) actually gives the same forever transferable warranty that Leupold and Bushnell currently offer.
