Remington 572 Fieldmaster or T/C 22 Classic

I have handled and shot both but own neither.

I prefer the 572 because it is a Remington and it fires .22 shorts which is king on frogs but at the same time I already have an old single shot for that(although I am willing to change :grin:) I have a lot of good personal experiences with a few(several) different 572s but never owned one myself.

I own bolt and lever actions as well as semi-autos but no pump :?

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the T/C Classic and from my limited experience I was impressed........

So... Which one do I want in my safe???

I have heard that the T/C is an awsome .22lr, and maybe the best for the price/ semi on the market.......another option to look into could be the re-released 511 CZ.......its a semi-auto, round clip, just go to www.czusa.com under the rimfire section.

I appreciate you recommending the CZ and I am sure it is a good tool but I don't want a rifle I have to call by initials because I can not pronounce the real name  plus I think they are as ugly as they come :wink:

I am a serious made in USA rifle shooter and have strictly narrowed it to these two models.

o yea i forgot you like the made in the USA rifles........well in that case I think the T/C would be a great choice...........no matter if you like them are not, CZ's are known for really good accuracy, correct?? (as far as rimfirecentral is concerned), and I have heard that the T/C Benchmark will shoot just as good or better than CZ bolties......I think around 1/2 MOA at 50 yards??

I would really like to save up and buy the Liver Lynx model that TC offers, seems to be a combo between the classic and the Target model, and is made of synthetic so i dont have to worry about beating it up a little in the stand!!

Any other opinions.......ik greybeard will get mad at me for sayin somethin in my last posts.......sry if i use to wrong wording like "best, or most", and I have not had first hand experience, I am just telling you what over 50 ppl at rimfirecentral have said throughout many posts.

I would choose the T/C. Both rifles are good and will do the job. As with most firearms (not all), the firearm will shoot better than the shooter.

One thing that I always look for in any product is customer service. This being said, I have always had great service from T/C, while Remington has been fair at best. I state this as a gun dealer and dealing with gun problems or just general gun questions of manufacturers. SImply put, I want a gun company who will back me up, when and if I ever have a problem.

In closing, go T/C and happy shooting.

I traded for a T/C Classic Benchmark early this year. And have never looked back. This is one shooting rifle.
Picked a fly off my target at fifty yards this spring, with CCI Mini Mags. Sent the target to CCI.
Even at 100yds. the rifle will group 1" for 10 shots. When I shoot at the range, people can't believe the groups. One fella had a $1,000 Sniper Rifle and seen the groups I was getting and said he had to have one.
And I haven't even shot the high dollar match stuff yet, only the CCI Green Tag.
Mounted a Leupold 6X42AO Tactial Scope on it. It's all the scope I need.
Just my two cents.

I checked on prices today and found a T/C Classic at the local Hardware store for $249.95+tax new :shock:  I was expecting it to cost more than that. Is that an alright price, or was I just thinking they should cost more than they do???

I would have to order the 572. It would run me $315+tax

Kind of turns my favor from the 572 and really puts the T/C Classic in the spot light.....but I do so love the .22 Short  :?

The TC Classic Bench mark rifle has a wholesale price of $260.94. So it looks like your hardware store is selling it less than wholesale....buy it! They probably got a good buy or something and passing the savings on.

yea that sounds like a really good price for the classic.......most of the times its around $300.......now for the Benchmark, its another story, they can be alot more expensive, since they have a bull barrel, and a nicer stock (IMO)......I would say they could run up to $400-50?? (not sure but i think thats right if i remember correctly......that Classic for $249 NEW is a great deal.......I think it will probably still shoot the shgorts, just as a single shot, not the repeater........hope this helps!! I own a TC Benchmark(see my post on "All Steel 22lr"). Recently I fired ten 5 shot groups with an average of .336", using Wolf Match Target ammo at 50yds. The smallest group was .19", so as you can probably guess I am very high on TC 22s. On the flip side I have owned a 572 and have nothing but good to say about that rifle, very nice and a good shooter too. Although, I'm not sure it is fair to compare the two, kinda like apples and oranges, Benchmark is more of a target model that would make a very accurate hunting rifle, with a scope it's gonna go around 8lbs. The 572 is more of an all around fun, plinking, hunting type gun IMO, and is much lighter than the Benchmark. For something different  the 572 would make a nice addition to your collection, but in no way can it come close to my Benchmark in the accuracy dept. I guess it comes down to what you want the most in a 22. I didn't discuss the Classic because I haven't bought one yet, although I plan to in the near future.  Just my 2 cents.  Good Shooting!
