How do you pin point rats in creeks when not alot of signs are present?  I know the rats are in there i've seen and caught them.  In other parts of the creek the numbers are impressive but theres about a mile section that is hard to pin point the rats to make a set.

How do you pin point rats in creeks when not alot of signs are present?

I have a couple creeks that dont show sign of rats either. But i trap mink along them and always catch a fair number of rats. I dont do anything special for catching rats just make my pocket sets for mink and take rats also.

My advice would be if your not already trapping these creeks, but have traps and time to spare set them up. Rats travel just about any place there is water. A person can really add a number of rats to your fur pile by setting these places that dont show sign and most of the time youl have the hole water way to yourself. Dont over look small ditches that have water in them but really dont have a food source for rats. They will travel these ditches to get to a food source.  It doesnt take very long to find a narrow spot and place a 110 in there and be on your way to the next place and maintaining them takes less time once there set. If your useing pocket sets you can pick off alot of coon also for that reason i dont set anything smaller than a 1 1/2 coil. Alot of the smaller creeks and ditches arent deep enough to drown coon in but they will be there in a 1 1/2 coil the next day. Hope this helps   clint

I have also found that bottom edge sets will take rats when sign is not present along with natural pockets .
If an animal activist is being mauled by a bear should we stop it , or , " let nature take its course?"

The question was
" How do you pin point rats in creeks when not alot of signs are present? "
and you DON'T These sets are great sets for taking rats. Some another ones that I have used are.Setting a snare on a Log Toilet,The Artifical Feed Bed Set,The Artifical Slide Set.
But I took the question as if he was wanting to take rats in high numbers. To do that you nead a LOT of rats. And a LOT of rats  make a LOT of sgin.
