Funny interlude...
« on: October 24, 2023, 08:58:16 AM »
Somebody posts a photo of a Mustang on my FB page, challenging any "import" to look nearly as good.

I just couldn't resist, using a photo my son did for a dealer client, who remarkets high end automobiles..

saying,.."wanna bet?"  ... I challenged with an "import".   I also showed the interior of this USED "import"... ;) :D ;D

..Just having fun, but frankly; iI think the import looks better..  What do you think?

He also has in his portfolio somewhere, a picture of a glossy black Porsche, which I think looks as good as the Ferrari....

Now if I can find that photo..I'll paste that one up too..

Later...   Ah yes...I did find that Porsche..shot at Buffalo harbor on Lake Erie, near entrance to Niagara River..

     ..Another decent import !

LOL, way back in the seventies, when the new Aston Martin V-8 came out, British auto mag. writers bitched it looked like AM was trying to copy the Mustang.
The Toyota Celica GT was a non-denied Japanese attempt to build a car based on the Mustangs looks.

Euros and Asians all brought out cars Pony Car size performers, but time moves on and Mustang is the sole survivor in the U.S. while overseas, the category is still fairly strong.

Most people these days have never gotten
to mess with the old muscle cars way back when.
I was lucky ( I guess) working for Ford dealerships
for so many decades. I got to see and ride in
and drive the real deal before so many of them
were altered and chopped up and pieced together
out of parts, and saw a good many rust buckets
that people "restored " that were full of bondo
with a fantastic paint job. Met Carol Shelby and
got his ingredient quantities from his chili recipe
that they used to sell  Met racers like Bob Glidden
and Bill Elliott and others.
Got to ride in the first "new" GT that I knew of
in this area. Panteras and real Shelby-made Cobras.
Messed with a Mustangs owned and driven by
friends and family. A couple of Bosses, GT's,
real Shelbys, a couple of Cobra Jet 428's

Most of all that stuff doesn't thrill me as much
anymore.  I'm more interested in getting from
A to B reliably and safely without a drunk border
jumper slamming into me and fleeing
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Know what you mean Ranger...As a very young man, I worked for a while with MOPAR vehicles.  That was when the domes first came out (late 50s).  The Chrysler 300s, DeSotos and some Dodges were somewhat exhilarating..

Today, I drive a 2015 Jeep Patriot, with 60K miles on it..  So long as it runs well, will probably be my last..
