lubbockdave:  I don't think Colt ever made the Commanche.  I believe there was a Taurus model Commanche but cannot recall if it was in 44 magnum or 45 Colt.  Now believe me, I could be totally wrong so let's wait until someone else gives us a more accurate response.  Mikey.

Guys, I dont think it was Taurus, if memory serves it was LLama, if not Astra.  Hard to keep them Spanish makers straight. Big frame gun. Think they were 44mag. Dont ever remember a Colt by that name. Hope this helps.

Colts site doesnt list a Commanche, this link does, but I think commanche may be the maker, not the model.

cj, you're right - it was either Llama or Astra who made that and it was in 44 magnum.  As I recall, they were solid guns but an Anaconda look-a-like.  There wasn't anything wrong with them, but I don't think they got a wide following.  Mikey.

I believe Les Baer, maker of some of the finest 1911 cusom models, makes a 4" model that they call "Commanche".
