Good Unguided Hunts At Fair Prices
« on: March 07, 2004, 05:06:53 AM »
Anyone looking for good unguided hunts at fair prices should contact www.alaskacariboucamps.com  My hunting buddy and I got several nice caribou bulls last year. The camps had more food than we could eat, all the equipment & tent were either new or in great condition and the animals were plentiful.  The outfitter flew in and checked on us every several days to see if we had any animals. We're headed back next year for more!!!

regardless of this fellers affiliation or lack there-of, according to the website offered,  the prices seem pretty good based on a few inquiries I have made in the past.

Dave...

The outfitter is a patient of my brother-in-law, who lives in Anchorage.  I tell everyone I can about these hunts if they're interested in getting a big bang for their buck.

I have never used an outfitter up here.  But, I am organizing a caribou hunt in the fall.  I have a friend with a Cub and if he for some reason can't make it we have an alternate plan.

I found an outfitter out of Deadhorse that will drop camp you north of the Brookes Range for $900 each. You have to get to Deadhorse though.  We will drive up and meet him there.

I have emailed Ralph several times and he is always quick and complete with all his information.

Finding good outfitters in Alaska is like trying to find a woman.

I'm sure it's possible that he's just passing on some good info. I have, however, seen him promoting Tony's hunts in the past on other forums. I was curious what the relationship was.

To post a hunt experience without mentioning a significant relationship to the outfitter/guide, isn't quite giving the full story. Who knows....someone with a relationship to the outfitter/guide might get special treatment, etc.

I'm not saying that's the case here, I was just asking. I have taken a few caribou myself, and looked at the web page. I happen to think it looks like a pretty good opportunity.

Bill, thanks for the response. I hope my posts aren't taken as a flame, or accusatory.

The relationship seems ok to me as long as the brother in law isn't a psychiatrist :)
