Mid Michigan deer
« on: October 15, 2024, 03:44:02 PM »
It has been warm and, up to a day or so ago, very dry in Shiawassee County.  Still pretty dry after .6 inch of rain.

Corn has turned brown and some farms have started to combine.   There is corn across the road, corn west of us and more corn a bit further east of us.  Hundreds of acres.  Apples have dropped and there has been a massive red oak acorn drop.

Deer have started to move a bit and what seems to be an unusually early corn harvest should keep them hopping.

Watched a small deer walk up to the neighbor's full body deer archery target yesterday, then lift tail and skedaddle off.  Might have deen a button buck.

Looking forward to more early season deer action compared to previous years when local corn was not harvested until the ground froze hard.

Headed up to Cedarville tomorrow and it will be interesting to see what's being harvested and the roadside body count.
