ive seen where churches have been spray painted ect and protests outside but if there was an actual shooting in one i havent heard about it or its at least VERY RARE.
I wouldn't call them common, but not rare either - I don't know why you haven't heard of any, when they happen they tend to be all over the news.  Anyway, here's some that I found with a quick search that have happened over the past decade or so. I'm sure there are more, these are only those that qualified as "mass shootings", and only those in or at churches - if you include Christian schools, Jewish synagogues, and other places of worship the numbers increase noticeably:

March 5, 2023: Four people were injured in the parking lot of a Baptist church during a drive-by shooting in Shreveport, LA

October 28, 2022: Six people were shot by multiple assailants outside a church in the Brighton Heights neighborhood near Pittsburgh, PA during a funeral service

May 15, 2022: One person was fatally shot and five others were injured in a shooting at a church in Orange County, California.

February 28, 2022: A man fatally shot his three children and the children's chaperone, before shooting himself, at a church in Arden-Arcade, California

October 6, 2021: Two men were killed and two others wounded in a shooting in a  church parking lot in New Orleans, LA

Nov. 5, 2017: Dressed in black tactical-style gear and armed with an assault weapon, 26-year-old Devin Kelley opened fire at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas, killing 26 people and wounding about 20 others.

Sept 24, 2017: Emanuel Kidega Samson, 25, was charged with killing a woman and wounding six other people with gunshots at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee.

Aug. 9, 2016: A shooting during a party at a Jersey City, New Jersey, church left 17-year-old Leander Williams dead and two teenage girls wounded. Daequan Jackson, 18, was charged with murder.

April 24, 2016: Mark Storms fatally shot 27-year-old Robert Braxton III during Sunday services in a suburban Philadelphia church. Storms, 46, argued self-defense, but was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter.

Feb. 28, 2016: Rev. William B. Schooler, 70, was fatally shot by his 68-year-old brother inside an office at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio, as Sunday services were winding down. Daniel Schooler was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 31 years to life in prison.

June 17, 2015: Nine black worshippers including a pastor were killed by Dylann Roof, a 21-year-old white supremacist, after he prayed with them for nearly an hour. The shooting happened at historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Roof was convicted of federal hate-crime and obstruction-of-religion charges and sentenced to death.

March 31, 2013: A 28-year-old man fatally shot his father during Easter services at the Hiawatha Church of God in Christ in Ashtabula, Ohio. Reshad Riddle then made a rambling statement at the pulpit while yelling about God and Allah, still holding his handgun as panicked worshippers fled the church.

Dec. 2, 2012: Elementary school music teacher Gregory Eldred, 52, shot his ex-wife, Darlene Sitler, while she played the organ during a church service at the First United Presbyterian Church in Coudersport, Pennsylvania.

Oct. 24, 2012: A former facilities maintenance employee at World Changers Church International in College Park, Georgia, opened fire, killing church volunteer Greg McDowell, 39, while he was leading a prayer. Police arrested Floyd Palmer, 51, who was found guilty but mentally ill and sentenced to life in prison.

May 9, 2012: Joseph Lewis Jr., 84, was fatally shot while sitting in a car guarding Victory Way Assembly Church of God in Christ in Detroit, Michigan. Two teenagers, 15-year-old Anthony Williams and 18-year-old Alandre Boone, attacked him while a Bible study took place inside. Police suspected robbery was the motive. Both teenagers were tried and convicted as adults for second-degree murder.

May 3, 2012: A homeless man killed himself after fatally shooting a priest and a church secretary at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ellicott City, Maryland. Police said Douglas Franklin Jones had been turned away from the church food bank about two weeks earlier for visiting every day instead of weekly.

Good post. No indication that any were gang related. Crazies, ex-husbands, family members, and disgruntled members.

Yeah I carry in church also. Chances are pretty slim that someone with ill intent would come in to my small town church, but in this day and age you never know. Im the only one that carries in our church, other than a state cop that comes, but he isn't there every Sunday.

The Sutherland Springs Texas church shooting with 26 killed, and 20 wounded, was a very small church, in a very small town (population 600). Keep packin.

Exactly.  Bad people do bad things anywhere and everywhere.  I carry everywhere I can legally do so - and as far as churches go, I'm one of several that carry and participate in our security team.

I am conflicted now after reading the church shooting chatter.  I didn't read 99.9% of it.  Just the bottom line 0.10% that "hurt" as my wife is a church secretary and vulnerable.  This state (FL) is constitutional concealed carry, without permit, but she won't.  I hope the lure of "free stuff" (including food) does not turn into something else.  Bottom line, no one that is hungry is turned away.

sorry pal but i wont use the bible to make you look bad like you obviously would just love to make yourself look superior to me. The 2nd testament was wrote to teach you how to go out in the world and be a Christian. it wasnt given to you take someone to another section and show your superiority. i think Jesus would much prefer you to act like a Christian with your time than memorizing an instruction manual by reading it ovr and over and over. my guess is there wont be points at the pearly gates for memorizing the bible. on the contrary the question of you wasting so much of your time trying to find hidden meanings in the bible that you could have spent being Christian. now ill freely admit im lacking in both departments but i dont pretend otherwise. i certainly dont know how God thinks and if i spent evey minute of the rest of my life reading the bible i wouldnt be one bit better of a Christain for wasting that time. i thought you guys always say all you need to get into heaven is to believe Jesus Christ is you savior. Well i d so isnt what your doing worshiping a book and weaponizing it to win your petty fights and bolster your ego??? wonder what God thinks of that?? you might have to answer some hard questions if you dont change ;)
Lloyd, Lloyd, Lloyd... What language does God use?  The original Ms were in either Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek..  But these were the languages of the spiritually 'inspired' (that is God breathed) knowledge of men who wrote that inspiration down.

Exactly - now this entire post is likely to be moved to the religion forum, a forum I absolutely won't participate in.

Please, Lloyd, IG, delete your religious comments so that doesn't happen.
