30-06 Range Report
« on: March 24, 2004, 05:31:27 PM »
I was able to get off early from work today and put about 18 rounds through it sighting it in. I shot 4 targets with 3 shots in each one. The first 3 didn't hit the paper so I knew this wasn't going to be simple. I was able to get the next 3 on paper but groups were still big(my fault as I later learned) and hitting high and left of POA. I then shot another 3 shot group at my last target, they were definitely grouping better. I had been shooting from my open door of my truck and noticed I couldn't keep it as steady as I should. Being out of targets I used a box I had from work as a target and shot from a prone position with the gun rested on the hinge pin. I think this last group is pretty good, considering this gun has only 18 rds through it. I know it can shoot better than I am able to at this time. All in all a good day, I definitely had fun

Nothing wrong with the way its shooting. I had the handi rifle in 30-06 also. Times got a little tough and I had to trade that one and my 243 Ultra in to clean up another layaway. Later I picked up a used but like new 280 which I really like. I have the 223 and 44 Mag and also the 45-70 and 12 Ga. Turkey model. Still need a new 30-30 to use up all the brass and bullets I have in that caliber. I may add a 22 Hornet barrel later on. Thats a fun little caliber.
shot placement is everything.
