Well. After months of twisting the idea around, I hit the Gun Fund and bought a big bore air rifle. Caliber .457. Air pressure in the carbon fiber bottle is 3600 psi. I put a DonnyFL moderator on it so as not to bother the neighbors, otherwise it is firearm loud.
The gun throws a 240 grain lead bullet at about 1000 fps. ME is in the 600 ftlb range.
