well as to towing the ford 3.5 turbo makes substantially more hp and torque than there v8 or my chev v8. as does the new dodge turbo 6. it even beats the 6.4 hemi. that said when you tow with them and are relying on boost from the turbos gas milage goes out the door and stress on the motor is certainly increased. fact is in the case of the ram 6 that was supposidly brought out to beat the 5.7 hemis gas mileage (which is already pour) the epa rates the hemi one mile per gallon BETTER. makes you scratch your head why the spent all that R&D to end up with more of a gas hog. even the 5.3 chev silverados in the real world get as good or better fuel economy then their turbo 4cyl.

My son has a turbo V-6 in a Ford F-150.  He blew the head gasket accelerating to get onto the interstate.  It cost him $2,600 to get the head gasket replaced.  He said they all are phasing out V-8's due to government regulations on gas mileage.  I told him to drive like an older person so it won't get blown again.

It is one thing for the government to subsidize the electric car industry and another to make gasoline mileage go up so high that the gasoline vehicles are no good anymore for towing or even driving.  How do you tow something with a V-6 like a travel trailer or a boat?

Electrics are not going to be ready by 2035 regardless of what the government wants.  Electric prices have to come down, charging time and range have to go up.  Also, the GRID has to be able to handle all the charging.  Fix the grid first, more nukes is the only real answer, other than more natural gas and coal power plants.

63K miles 5.7 Hemi turning over at maybe 1500 rpm rolling up I 75 at 70 mph.....and I expect it  to do that for at least another 200k miles.  1750 rpm if I take it up to 75 mph.

Not so much a matter of power but one of longevity and vehicle cost.
