its all word salad and calling a government democratic OR A republic is all in the way its used. just words that can be twisted to fit a definition whoever uses it wants it to. what we arent is communist or socialist. those trying to steer us in that direction need to be delt with. i posted it referring to a free America with less government control. not saying we are democrats which is a totally different thing that today is far from democratic and fits the definition of socialism if not communism.

I believe one would find that Rome was a republic for their first five centuries.. (about 500 BC to 25BC)  .
..And an empire for their last five centuries (about 25BC to 475 AD)

Repulic 509 BC-27BC, Unified empire 27BC-395AD.

In 376, a large migration of Goths and other non-Roman people, fleeing from the Huns, entered the Empire. Roman forces were unable to exterminate, expel or subjugate them (as was their normal practice). In 395, after winning two destructive civil wars, Theodosius I died. He left a collapsing field army, and the Empire divided between the warring ministers of his two incapable sons. Goths and other non-Romans became a force that could challenge either part of the Empire. Further barbarian groups crossed the Rhine and other frontiers. The armed forces of the Western Empire became few and ineffective, and despite brief recoveries under able leaders, central rule was never again effectively consolidated.

Sure does, but of course those cagey Romans had already moved the capital of the Roman Empire from the city of Rome, to
   Constantinople (333 AD).

....And Old Constantine escaped to the city named for himself and went on to rule for a while.

Today that city is called Istambul, and is part of modern day Turkey.

I know several people who would/did not vote for Trump because they simply have disdain for his personality.
They did not vote for Harris , whom they viewed with equal disdain.

A LOT, huge lot, of people do not pay much attention to the particualars of politics and what is does to this county, state or country.
But they vote on personality alone.

Calling them Communitst, shows few really know what Communism is; what the Democratic Party is represented now is far, far closer ro Fascism than Communism.
In the past , there were several times, not for president, I voted for some one other than the Republican as I found him repugnent.
Pretty much same feces, different pile.

What happened the past eight years was a gift from God, for which conservatives should drop to their knees and thank God for profusely as it exposed what Washington and 98 percent of the persons working there had become.
Wlth out this, this country would have continued on a down hill trend with most of the populaiton ignorant or apathetic.

So, you didn’t vote for President Trump either?

Actually M11 I did vote for Trump. But I admit to being a bit embarrassed by that. I did it because someone here pointed out that God used men like Trump to punish the Israelites in the Old Testament and this country certainly needs punishment. Of course, I'm not sure I actually have the right to vote for punishment. But I did.

  Trump's personality..

Despite Trump's overwhelming victory, there are some who refused to vote for him..bnecause of his "personality and attitude".

Let us keep in mind that with Donald J Trump, we are not dealing with the average "politician"..

A typical "politician" lies when it suits their purpose.. We must all know by now, that most politicians as a group are consummate liars.

On the other hand, Trump is one who comes forth with the facts..and lets "the chips fall where they may".

He is an excellent example of "what you see, is what you get"..  I recognize the situation well, since  Ihave the same predilection, ..as I
    suspect others here share.

However, this works well for diplomatic reasons..since any opponent knows where our president stands...and when he speaks, they listen.

Maybe, but when the punishment starts, you may not feel that way. None of us may feel that way, who knows yet.

So to verify. You voted for Trump for the only purpose, thinking that Trump will punish Israel, and you feel that Israel needs punished? Is that correct?

I think you are misreading what he said. When he said "and this country needs punishment" I'm pretty sure he was referring to the USA not Israel.

Yes, IMO, the USA is seriously in need of punishment.
