The al-Asad regime has fallen in Syria..
« on: December 08, 2024, 03:41:27 AM »
  The event leaves many questions.  Assad was a client of Russia and Iran.. but some of the rebel forces atre hard line Islamists..

   Of course, the resistance is no single, monolithic group..  The group includes moderate Muslims, Kurds ..some kurds are Christians, and Druze,

  The Druze from what I understand, are a religion containing some Muslim, Jewish and Christian elements...similar to the historical
   Samaritans, it seems.  Do, i suspect there will be some "jockeying for position" among these forces.

    I wonder where Bashier al-Assad went ?  Wherever he went, we can rest assured he likely took billions of "fotreign aid' money with him !

  FROM .. THE GUARDIAN;

Government pocketed half of donations in 2020 as central bank forced UN agencies to use lower exchange rat

The Syrian government is siphoning off millions of dollars of foreign aid by forcing UN agencies to use a lower exchange rate, according to new research.

The Central Bank of Syria, which is sanctioned by the UK, US and EU, in effect made $60m (£44m) in 2020 by pocketing $0.51 of every aid dollar sent to Syria, making UN contracts one of the biggest money-making avenues for President Bashar al-Assad and his government, researchers from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the Operations & Policy Center thinktank and the Center for Operational Analysis and Research found.

If you have time, check online there are several reports from the Gent who led the Rebels (there is more than one group but this is the group that is in control, for now) that they intend to set-up a a government that accepts all faiths and ethnicities.

Problem is there are other radical groups, I.E. ISIS, that he/they will end up fighting now.

Sad thing is Gaddafi, and Saddam, while brutal to opponents, people who lived in those places before Bush, stuck his head up his buttocks, said there was No persecution of other religious faiths, and Libya gave women the most freedom of expression of any country in the area.

Carter turned Iran into a radical crap hole, and Bush spread it all over tha area.
