Less then 6 weeks away from my dream hunt for brownies in AK
« on: March 24, 2004, 07:45:56 AM »
All,

Looking for some pictured of the Perryville area, are there any out there? My guide assures me I will have my bear in the first week of hunting and I would like know any interesting places in the area to visit/take pictures. After 10 days I will be Black Bear hunting in PWS, so any info on Whittier would be helpful also.

Thanks,

Rick

Army,  I really hope you can get some pics to post here.  I could not even dream of hunting the big bears myself a/c $$$$$$$$ but sure would like to experience a little of it from those who can work out a hunt.  Good luck.

Filming the hunt

After this hunt I will have enough footage to make a DVD or VCR tape, I will provide info for anyone who is interested. I currently have footage of whitetail kills on film and they are very exciting.

Consider this an invite, next time you are in St. Louis, MO (if ever) I will treat you to a $3.00 cup of Joe.

Bullet recovered on my 375 rum.

After some scope ring issues were resolved, I finally got my 375 sighted in last night, my final shot was through a tree we decided to cut down in an effort to let the best trees thrive. After a few minutes with the chainsaw and a few more with a hammer and wood chisel, I recovered the 300 grain swift A frame round. It had went through a 2x2 post, then half way through a 12" diameter tree. The bullet mushroomed down to almost the base on a 25 yard shot, needless to say I am convinced this should do the trick on that brown bear. I am headed back out to my cabin after work to shoot some more with a cold barrel to make sure I am where I need to be. Maybe tonight I will take out another tree at 50 yards and see how the bullet performs. I will post a picture of the rounds so everyone can see the results.
