Hey DLH about the 30/30 to the 30/40

I am the owner of a 30/30 14" with muzzle brake that doesn't seem to want to shoot. I was hoping that you could expand on your conversion from 30/30 to 30/40 (velocity, powders, bullet weights,etc).. Thank You JHW

Thank You for your offer and I'll keep it in mind as I would like to do something with the barrel and the 30/40 is not heard of that much. JHW

:D   I don't know if they will let load data be posted on here? but here goes;

   My load starts with Winchester brass, with a Winchester large Rifle primer. add 42.7 g of IMR 4064, Top it off with a Remington or Sierra  150g soft point.   This gives me 2134fps avg.  and the best accuracy that I have ever seen.  It has no brake and doesn't need one. this pistol gives the rifle boys he!! at the winter shoot at our club, ( bench rest , sandbag  with hunting guns)

       If this gets deleted I'll know that no loads on gb. and I will send it to you.

   now the disclamer;  THIS LOAD IS SAFE IN MY BARREL, START LOW AND WORK UP!!!!!!!

Thank You. You did not state barrel length to which I was curious(but did not ask in origional post). I figured that the medium powders would be called for and was guessing around 2300 fps after going through the manuals. I have two pounds of V-V N135which is around 4895 and 4064. The barrel I have is,as stated, a 14" with muzzle brake which leaves about 10.5" of rifled barrel left (a guess) after a rechamber to 30/40. The disclaimer was read and appreciated.I want to say again Thank You to all who gave me their thoughts on this matter is is nice to have someone to ask. JHW
