.38-55 available in M1895???
« on: March 30, 2004, 07:23:14 AM »
I'm considering buying a Marlin 1895, and I like the .38-55.

I've seen this chambering in the CB and while the CB looks good, to me it doesn't look $150 more good than the regular 1895. I don't need the extra bbl length, and I don't really like the long magazine of the CB.

Is there a .38-55 chambering in the standard rifle?

Thanks, I didn't think so. I see that the .38-55 CB is available new on Gunsamerica.com for $495. Is this about the best price that can be found?

I've looked around for used, but don't find any.

Thats a fair price. The 38/55 is accually a 336 action. I got my hands on one this past fall for about 503.00 and have zero regrets. It is a tack driver. I shoot the bullet that Stone Fence makes it is a .378 JFP. Took a deer clean off its feet this fall. You will like it for sure.
