I read a post that mentioned a 41 Special, did not know if that was a typo or is there a 41 Special.

I believe it is considered a wildcat, but Im pretty sure it does exist.  It is simply a 41 Mag case trimmed with no other changes except for loading data.
Ill double check Cartridges of the World and make sure.

Yup, lookin through COTW and found it.  The author seems to think it has serious potential, but it has not gotten much recognition.  Seems the ideal platforms are converted smith and Ruger three screws origionally chambered for the .38/.357.  It is a tamed 41 mag geared more towards self defense rather than hot hunting loads.  I hope this helps ya.

It would seem that a 41 Special (trimmed to 38 special length) would fire in a 41 mag.  Wonder how accurate it would be.

38 Spacial shoots fine in a 357 Revolver, and 44Russian, 44Colt and 44 Special shoot fine in a 44 magnum, so a 41 Special should be no problem, other than getting dies to load it.  You could grind 1/8 inch off of the 41 Magnum crimp die and that should do it.

Check out this link about the wildcat 41 special.

Sound like a fun wildcat for sure. Much better than the .429 Special!
