Scope Base for Contender

What scope base do you prefer on your contender barrels?

Do you like the T/C Maxima base & rings?  I am trying to locate a No.7454 Maxima Base for Contender  with no luck.  FoxrRidgeOutfitters does not list the contender base, only for encore.

my preference is the 6 hole Weaver style but you either have to have an extra set of holes drilled in your factory barrel or buy a custom barrel drilled as such. Once they are properly installed with either the two or three ring set up they will take the pounding of any Contender/Encore based cartridge.

I've used 4 types bases

I have never had a problem with any of them, although some are much more dificult to use than others. In my opinion, the regular Weaver 92 base with 4 holes is the cheapest, easiest simplest and best. Guess I'm just lucky. use it on .223 up to 47/70, no problems.

I have 4 different types of scope mounting systems

I have a set of T/C Quick Detachable on my 357 max barrel. I have the weaver 4 screw rail on my 22LR bull barrel. There is an older T/C style rail mount on my 223 barrel that came with it I really don't know anytning about except its there and is works And I also currently have an unused duo ring and base set in blue I just don't have a need for it as yet so it sets unused in my T/C equipment box with a couple more of the weaver rails which are also new and unused to date just waiting for the need. Personally I prefer the weaver rail mount system as the QD unit has been discontinued and I can't get any more of them and I don't get a lot of good feed back about the duo set. It works but its apprently not the best. But I have one if I need to use it. It pays to have more parts than you need just now as you may just need them in the future whan another barrel comes along.

I was under the impression that the Maxima QD rings were not discontinued, but redesigned....  I have a set of the old ones, but now I see that the QD lever has changed to a thumbscrew type mechanism.  (2 tabs instead of one)

Pistol barrels have Burris single dovetail bases, with the exception of a couple that have the T/C rail mounts.  Carbine barrels have Weaver 92A bases.

Most of the scopes I like the Burris Signature rings with the plastic inserts.  The T/C rail mount scopes do not use rings to attach to the base.

I have a couple of the T/C Duo rings, and don't use them on anything.
