what's the general opinion of these rifles? i plan on getting one or the other,maybe both for hunting as well as fun shooting. i'm left handed and if i fire right hand lock on my left shoulder is ther any danger of flash or burnt powder that could damage my eyes? i know this problem can exist with a flintlock.

                  as a canadian citizen there are a lot of hoops i would have to jump thru but i think a muzzle loading longgun is easier to purchase then a cartridge gun. anyone know about this? i'll also ask on the hunting in canada forum.

I have the cabelas Kentucky in flint and it's a great gun for the money. I too am a lefty, the flintlock is no trouble, but righthand perc guns tend to throw sparks onto my wrist, which can be cured with one of those cup thingys they put around the nipple.

I don't think you will find it to be a problem. I have double guns in both flint and cap so left or right you always have one lock next to your face.

Cap fragments are always a danger so I always wear shooting glasses.
