Randy,

I thought I saw you post the barrel maker for White. I wanted to have a Encore barrel made up to shoot conicles and wanted to compare prices of a blank before getting the barrel off a 98.

The former barrelsmith was the renowned Bo Clerke; as to what the current barrels will be (the .451 models do not exist yet, and may not) that is open to speculation. However, Bob Bowers (aka "Super 91") may well be able to help you in short order with a drop-in. I'll send Bob this link.

My FIRST question is... Have you tried shooting some No Excuses conicals out of your Encore? What caliber is your Encore? If it is a .50, it SHOULD shoot 400gr conicals or so...That's all a 405gr Powerbelt is, a conical.

My Encore won't-- yet, my Knights / Austin & Hallecks do extremely well with 405 Powerbelts. All 1:28 twist, so go figure. :idea: :?

The Encore is a 50. I haven't tried any conicals in it yet other than the ones from T/C. I have tried the NE 460 and the Mose 470/425's in my Knight 45 but it didn't shoot them very well.

Thanks for sending me the link Randy. I'm pretty sure contendernut knows about my conversion, but there is a mile or two of red tape to cut through before I can offer my drop-in for the Encore for sale. On the other hand, I did buy a .451 barrel ready to go for the M98 or Thunderbolt with the exception of a few small details. Will they ever make it to White? That part is open to speculation. I have one of those Criterion barrels in the works right now in .451 that I should have ready for testing in the next few weeks. The barrels from Criterion "look" great, but there is not much to tell with the naked eye. They "feel" very uniform when a patch is ran through them, but there again, I do not have the eqiupment to say how well it is going to shoot. But shoot it I will, and hopefully soon. I like the idea of a proven conical shooter with many benefits as a drop in for the Encore. And I am hoping many others will too.
