G,day again Mates,
Here at our beautiful shooting complex in tropical Darwin, we have a full 500 meter silhouette range, 2 x 200 meter & 1 x 50 meter. Because of Highpower & Hunters inherent difficulty, it's hard to get people interested in shooting to 500 meters. However, every second saturday, we shoot what we call a Field Shoot on one of the 200 meter ranges. This is very popular & very well attended. The idea is, the match is simulated as if you are in the field hunting. (1) 5 chickens @ 100 standing, off hand, slings allowed, no rest. (2) 5 pigs @ 150 meters, sitting or kneeling, slings allowed, rests allowed, vis a vis, a simulated tree. (steel pole of building) (3) 5 turkeys @ 200 meters, prone, rests such as backpacks, bipods allowed. While this really is not at all demanding on the skills of the serious shooter, the participation level is increasing all the time, it's quick to reset, (shoot the match a few times if you wish)& most clubs have at least a 200 meter range, & it's a good tool to try & encourage the "hooked" ones to the big range next door, so to speak. I personally use this match as practice, (all standing to HP rules, no rests etc). I wont say how many I get, as it's embarrasing!! Not trying to re invent the wheel here, just thought someone might be interested what's happening elsewhere.
kind regards
