I am looking for the following items if possible
« on: April 14, 2004, 04:00:09 AM »
1) Used leather contender holsters belt models for non-scoped guns 10 and 14"
2) TC quick disconnect scope mount and rings - anybody use this? How does it actually work does the scope stay sighted in when removed and replaced? anybody have any of the rings or bases for this item?
3) Fiber optic front sights for T/C pistol barrels. Or more correctly that will fit on a contender barrel I don't care where it comes from as long as the screw holes line up and it works. also a place to obtain these perhaps 10 or more even if one at a time. JUST need front sights.
4) Info on Duo ring and bace set. good, bad , or worthless? hard kickers or just for light kickers?
5) does anybody have or seen a holster that will fit a Contender with a 6.5" barrel?
thanks for any information you folks can give me. sincerely.

I have one used left hand shoulder holster that is a 10" cut to open the muzzle for a 14" probably not what you are looking for.
The TC duo ring setup, in my opinion is the least desirable of the possiblities for scope mounting. I have had two of them.
1. They are very limited in adjustment for eye relief.....they are too close together.
2. The actual amount of contact surface is about half of what you would get with a Leupold, Burris, Weaver or Redfield style ring.
3. They are very prone to slipage and require the rings to be overtightened...in my opinion.
4. Absolutely require lapping as they are not in perfect alignment....the two different ones I had were not close.
5. They are over priced for what you get....you can buy a better setup for the same money.

I can tell you a bit about the quick release rings/bases.  In my experience, they return to zero when removed and remounted on the same barrel.  They need to be resighted, however, when you move them from barrel to barrel due to minor misalignment differences, recoil changes, etc.  They do allow you to use one scope on different barrels, but it is a sufficiently large inconvenience that I gave up and just bought enough scopes to go around.  Hope this helps you.
