What do you have?
« on: April 08, 2004, 10:28:59 AM »
What kind of scatter guns do you all have?

I have a 1955 Browning A-5 lightweight in .12 GA with an additional smoothbore, open sighted, slug barrel... beautiful gun.

My workhorse is a Winchester 1300 in .12 GA with an open sighted smoothbore  barrel with Tru-Glo sights...  taken a lot of deer with this one.  I can put a Federal rifled slug in an eight inch paper plate at 80 yards any day.

Mmmm... Lets see.  I have:

Remington 1100 SP 12 ga with Hastings fully rifled barrel, Damar receiver scope mount, Leupold 1X4 SG scope (principal deer gun)

Remington 11-87 Skeet Grade 12 ga 26"  (main loaner)

Remington 11-87 SuperMag SP 12 ga 3.5" in a camo synthetic stock with 26" and 28" barrels. The 26" barrel has a rib mounted cantilever and a Leupold 1X4 SG scope (duck and goose, deer & turkey)

Browning Citori Grade V 26" Skeet with Briley tubes in 20, 28 and .410 (Skeet, obviously)

Browning Citori Golden Clays 12 ga 32" Trap (Trap doubles)

Browning BT-99 Golden Clays 12 ga 34" Trap (Trap 16 yard and handicap)

Had a few others (mostly Remingtons) but sold them to buy the Trap & Skeet guns.

As of right now, I have the one shotgun that never "goes" with the "come & go".
Many others have come & gone.

Well, a couple of years ago I sold off about half a dozen, no place to keep them all. I still have:

Remington 1100 12 ga with Hastings rifled barrel, old aftermarket composite stock, Redfield 2 3/4 power wide-field scope. (Main deer killer)

Ithaca 12 ga. mod 37 Deerslayer, smoothbore, old marlin 3x9 scope.(ex #1 deer killer, now backup and loaner.)

High Standard Mod K-1200 riot gun (cheap Life Insurance)

Remington 1894  12 gauge, Damascus barrels.( Because it's pretty and they don't make guns like they used to.)

Beretta 686 Onyx 12 gauge ( Only bird gun I'll ever need and never sell.)

Stevens mod. 311 20 gauge. First gun I actually owned.( after I had the barrels cut back to 18 inches I could even HIT them damn grouse!

Marlin ( H&R) .410 (truck gun).

1.  Old turn of the century 12 ga Henry, double Hammer gun.
2.  Winchester single shot .410, my first shot gun.
3.  1953 model 870 Wingmaster 12 ga.  My dad bought it new for me to hunt ducks in the Wabash river bottoms.  I was 10 years old and over the last 50 years have taken a ton of ducks with that gun.
4.  Savage 440 12 ga OU.  I bought it new to shoot clay birds in 1965.  I sucked at clay birds but shot lots of live ones with it.
5.  Browning A5 humpback 12 ga.  Got it new in 1965 for the $100.00 from another soldier who needed money more than a shotgun.  I never got the hang of shooting it.
6.  Mossberg 500 Trophy slugger,  I originally purchased it to shoot slugs but the high comb and new vent rib barrel with a HS Strut choke, and a red dot scope make it my favorite turkey gun.
7.  mossberg 590 12 ga with ghost rings.  Super close quater combat gun.  Not that I do combat anymore.
8.  Ruger Red Label 12 ga.  One of those "had to have it things" that stayed in the safe over ten years with out use.  This year I got it out, put two Trulock turkey chokes it it, added a sling and covered the shinney parts with a camo gun sock.  With Winchester Supremes 2 oz, 5's it put 82 pellets in 8.5 x 11.5 paper at 50 yards.  Maybe I found a use for it.

Three Benelli M1 S90s;  2 in 12ga and 1 in 20.

Two Browning BSS;  a 12 and a 20.

Remingtons; 12ga model 58, 20ga LT 1100, 20ga 11-87.

Winchester '97 cut to 20" with Remchokes.

Laurona 12ga O/U with 3.5" chambers.

Ithaca parkerized 12ga riot gun LA state police trade-in.

Stevens single shot .410 and an H&R Topper youth 410.

Does a 10"stainless vent rib Contender barrel count?  I am going to try to kill a duck with it next season.

Winchester Super X2 is my everyday dove/duck/goose gun

Reminton 870 is my turkey gun but until I got the X2 it was my boat oar/pry bar/ice breaker/walking stick/deer slugging/dove/duck/goose "goto" shotgun for everything.

I have a H&R Ultra Stugger single shot slug gun that I use to drive nails at 120 yards and occasionally take a deer with it.

I also have a new Stoeger DU Edition 12ga O/U I won this year I will try out on doves.

I have a Mossberg 20ga pump that is pushing 20 years old. It has a polished blued finish and slick high gloss stock/forearm. Dove hunt a little with it.

Next is a Remington SP-10 for...well...just because I guess!
