bipod usage
« on: April 19, 2004, 12:22:51 PM »
Chris,
I'm using a bipod on my new 243 barrel with the factory rynite fore end. I figured that's what I was going to use in the field so I might as well develop loads with it on the rifle too. I also used a bipod with my 209x50 barrel and the poi did not change when I went from bags to bipod. My contender pistol barrels will most definitely change poi depending on where you are resting the fore end on the bags. Mike

Bipod Usage?

I used to use a bipod on my Contender set up .....custom barrels and hanger bar. I quit doing that when one of the custom barrel makers recommended I not do that as it tends to loosen the dovetailed anchor nuts in the barrels.  Now I use a bench bag, one of those grain filled cheap Cordura ones with a handle.
When I was using the bipod on a short carbine barrel in .221 FB and hanger bar I got no change in POI.
