Colt Mustang Hammer needed
« on: April 11, 2004, 08:50:06 AM »
I got a .380 Colt Mustang from a shop a while ago, and it drops the hammer after each shot. the smith at the shop sez the hammer is damaged and he doesn't think he can reshape it safely (apparently, the notch for the sear is rounded over- some previous owners trigger job, he thinks).
They are perfectly willing to repair or replace, but have been unable to locate a replacement hammer - anyone got any leads??

Try www.e-gunparts.com, they are out of stock now, but try from time to time. Sometimes eBay,  or maybe Gary Thiry Parts distribution at 916-451-6536. Good luck.

First I'd speak with Colt.  They show schematics for a Colt 380 which in the parts books is lumped in with the Mustang and Mustang II.  Also Numeric ( http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ ) has a listing for this weapon.  Call or check online to see if they have the needed part..  The parts number for Colt is   1-800-962-COLT(2658).
