I should have listened
« on: April 06, 2004, 12:18:12 PM »
Awhile back I was looking thru the local gun shops at revolvers. the Tauturs line looked nice but I'd heard they were problematic weapons. the owner of one of the shops said "buy a Smith or a Ruger" but being thick headed I opted for a Tracker.
Afterall I'd heard they had come a long way in quality and the Tracker series sure looked good in a 6" model.
Well to make this post alot shorter I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED to both the owner and my gut feeling. Though they do hold promise and are appealing to the eyes in that satin SS. I now have three new ones in 22mag.,218 Bee,and 357 Mag. Of the 3 one is on it's way back to Taurus 'cause the rear sight fell off and the screw hole is drilled an tapped on an angle. Another is awaiting a mount I paid for 4 1/2 weeks ago and still do not have . And the 357 misfires at will!
IMHO they are SCRAP, at least the ones I bought are.

Buying a Taurus right now is a crap shoot. Over the past several weeks I have seen some really bad guns,at different dealers. I am very interested in the 500 they are coming out with, but I dont know if I can bring myself to plunk down the cash for another Taurus with thier quality in such a poor state right now..

Hi  140.  I posted  about 2 weeks ago. I talked about how the customer service department was  taking care of my warranty on  a RB 454 mount.  The lip service was great.  "the mount will be sent out right away"  Well its still not here.  The girl is now on Maternity leave.  The new girl said it's on back order.  What will come first the kid or the mount.  Dave

Poor Dave: I should not bother to relate this 'cause it will just sour me more. But what the heck I am an old sour a$$ anyhow.
I got the 10-032 mount that I had been waiting for. Last weekend the Fed Ex guy brought it. When I opened the box I saw that the blister pack the mount was in had been opened before and taped back together. The mount itself was in decent shape, but the bars that go through the ports are the poorest of quality that could be. They are not flat with 90 degree angles but rather rounded and not uniform. To make matters worse one of them was drilled but not tapped and I had to tap it myself.
I will say that when mounted on my gun it is soild though and holds my Redfield ESD firmly.
had it been anyother company I would have sent it back right off. But Whom knows what it come back as this time or how long.
 BTW bet on the baby!!!
