did I say something wrong to get my topic deleted? I was asking for left-handed alternatives to sil rifles and when I checked back, the topic had been deleted???

Your message was probably dropped due to lack of responses.

I know a few silhouette shooters who, for lack of available left-handed actions, shoot right-handed actions in left-handed socks. They do this very effectively. You might want to give that a try.

If I am not mistaken, Remington, Winchester and Sako offer left-handed high-power rifles. Given Remington's recent lack of concern for quality, I would go with Winchester, who has been actively implementing CNC machining in their plants. Besides, if you are looking for a rifle for Hunter class, Winchester makes their rifles with a 3.00 inches magazine length, as opposed to 2.800 inches found in others.

You might also want to scour the gun shows, before the politicians shut them down (read today's news). I think you are much more limited when it comes to left-handed smallbore actions.

thanks for the advice. I was primarily looking to begin with smallbore and have found my affordable choices very limiting. I have begun a search for the 'gently used' category, as that's how I could afford to get into IHMSA. However, the options seem still rather slim....

Messages do not get deleted for lack of responses. And I am not aware of any ban on postings by left-handed shooters.

The site admin upgraded the forums software and moved to a new server over the weekend. In hindsight, it may not have been such a good idea to do both at the same time. There were all kinds of problems with the forums over the last few days, but now that they have reverted to the old version of the software things look much better.

Even before the move there were a few occasions where topics disappeared from the index. When this happens the topics are usually still on the server and if I can find the link in my browsers history I can view the topic and if I post a reply it pops back into the index.

Let me know if you notice any other topics that have gone AWOL.

Hi All,

I have been shooting left handed guns for a few years now and it took me a bit of time to find them with a bolt on the left hand side. They can be found though. Remington makes the VS700 in a lefty version in 3 calibers: 223, 22-250 and 308. I managed to find a used one at a gun show a few years back and after acquiring various components I had it converted to a 260 with the help of Marvin Pearson up in Washington. Great gun, wish I could do it justice.

I also managed to find a Kimber of Oregon (Kimber America doesn't have any and has no plans to build any left handed actions. I checked witht hem) model 82 on the internet at www.GunsAmerica.com. They actually have a listing for lefthanded guns, so this may also help you find what you are looking for.

Anschutz has also made some lefty 54 action guns in the past, and if you do a bit of searching you may be able to find these as well. It took me about 3 years but I did find one and bought it on the spot. Mine is a single shot, no magazine. I'm not sure if they made them in both versions or just this one, but I didn't care, I was just happy to find one. I did spend some time trying to figure out if it was worth while to buy a left handed 54 barreled action and have it put into a McMillan silhouette stock, but before I got to that level desperation I managed to find the one I have now.

Don't give up... They are out there if you are willing to look and wait.

The Anschutz Match 64 action is available in left hand versions (in their sporting range the model designation is 1416L - I think) and I assume you can get them in the US, they're certainly available here in Oz. While not quite the action a match 54 is, they certainly have been used as the basis of many very capable small bore rifles (and also the standard-setting Exemplar pistols) and they also have the advantage of being available with, or adaptable for, some of the great Anschutz match triggers. So, if you are after a full lefty set up this may be a viable alternative. Regards Nigel.
