The Taurus people are certainly committed to a heavy advertisement campaign for their Model 63. I have yet to see one in a sporting goods store. Have any of you seen or fired one of these firearms?

Dont know of a distributor that has one or I would order and see for myself. Wish they would get on the ball and get them out if they are gonna advertise a year in advance.

Looks like Taurus has the blued steel Model 63 available. Stores here in Minneapolis, MN area are asking full MSR. Before I invest, I was wondering if any of you forum shooters have shot or even handled one of these. They are not a stocked item in the local stores here.

Just back from the Sioux Falls SD show.  Saw several of the Taurus 63's both in stainless and blue.  One stainless had some really pretty wood but I opted for the blue.  After taxs it come to 235 which I thought was really decent.  Mine new one has decent wood and a nice blue job.   Now my only problem is figuring out how to mount a scope on it.

OK 257A1,
Well, here it is a week. By now you must have had that 63 out for a shot or two. How does it work? Handle well? Accurate? How is the workmanship?
Still a special order item here. Your price was very good.

Haven't had a chance to put it on paper yet.  Did run a few rounds through it just to check functioning.  Think I am falling in love, it seemed to work like a swiss clock.  I have to go about 50 miles down to the farm to do any range time and we had 14 inch of snow on ground. Been trying to come up with a mount that will work on it.  Think I will probably end up taking it to gunsmith and have him drill and tap for mount on barrel. I made a makeshift scout type mount that I might be able to try it out with.  I really like the workman ship on this rifle.  Just hope it shoots half as good as it looks.

Purchased stainless Model 63. Exterior metal finish/polish is great. Stock is so/so. Front sight is a very high half moon affair with no bead-not good. Rear sight is typical cheap .22 rifle type. Despite the claim in their web site that this gun has a clean , crisp trigger mine was very heavy with a LOT of creep. Dunno how it shoots. First I had only cheap Wal Mart ammo available and got a lotof jams-will try tomorrow with good ammo. Accuracy was lousydue to  either lousy trigger, sights, ammo or some combination thereof. Had to raise the rear sight a lot to get centered even at 20 yds. Also shot left-again I am unsure what roblem is but will try to isolate. Note that slide does NOT lock open on last shot-bummer. I don't know whether theWinchester locked back or not. I called Taurus Customer service and explained the trigger difficulty and their claim in regard thereto on web site-was told that the trigger work constituted "customizing" and they didn't do that anymore. No use talking to that person anymore-sent fax, but no reply yet. Will update soon.

Got out to shoot my Taurus 63 today.  Very bad conditions with high winds and blowing dust. I have a Redfield LO-Pro  3-9 scope mounted on the rifle using the Taurus mount. Was shooting over the hood of the truck so no great claims to accuracy but at 50 yards would have had lots of dead rabbits and quite a few head shot squirrels. Threw out empty 22 box and bounced it out of sight.  Even with the blowing dust and new rifle have had no jams yet.  Been using both Remington and Winchester Ammo.  Very pleased with it so far.  Trigger is pretty heavy but something that should smooth down in time. Looking forward to getting out on a calm day with several different types of shells to find preference of rifle.

Taurus Quality Control

Dooly and 257AI,
Thanks for the valuable appraisal of the rifle. It appears that Taurus may have quality control issues. 257AI mentions no jamming and Dooly has had problems. The trigger I could live with, and the fit and finish attention to detail are apparently okay, but jamming is not allowed. Dooly, please keep us informed.
