I,m hooked

Thanks to all the people sharing in this forum and thanks to Graybeard for a great site. I cast my first batch of test bullets saturday and today put em all thru the same pieplate. I have 2 molds in 44, a real old Lyman Ideal 429421 and a new Lee c430-310. The only trouble I had was keeping the aluminum mold hot enough, just need more practice with it. It was a great pleasure to send bullets I had cast and loaded downrange. A lot more fun than shooting factory bullets. I know I have a long way to go in casting but I am off to a great start and have high hopes

Aluminum moulds

Aluminum moulds are easy to keep hot. If you are getting wrinkled bullets it is not due to mould tempreture. Take a wooden kitchen match and hold the mould cavity over the flame until you have a good uniform layer of smoke/soot in the cavity. That will cure your wrinkled bullet problem. You may need to do this for the first half dozen times you cast until the mould seasons.
