Love those Rugers!
« on: May 02, 2004, 11:26:46 AM »
Headed to the range to day with four of my  Rugers in tow - along with a Marlin .45-70   and a Browning .22 Buckmark.

I set up at the 100/200 yard range, placing clay pigeons on the berms and paper targets on the stands.

In short, the Ruger M77 .257 Roberts and M77 MKII VT .22-250 were deadly when it came to the 200 yard pigeons.  (So was the Marlin .45-70, but that's another story.)  I shot at the 100 yard pigeons with the .22 Buckmark and the Ruger .357 Blackhawk (4-5/8"), hitting a few.  (Did better with the .357.)

Only took a few shots with the Marlin.  First shot busted a 200 yard clay, as did some subsequent shots.  The scope came off and I aimed at the upper paper target at 200 yards, placing the bullet 1" left and 3" high - not bad for my eyes.

Time was running short, so I backed up to the 200/300 yard line while I had the range to myself.  The Ruger .257 Roberts and .22-250 were very reliably busting the clays at 300 yards, and soon they were all gone.

Back to the 100/200 yard firing position and I used the .22 Buckmark to "clean up" the 100 yard clays.  Lots of shooting "at", but but the last three ceased to exist.

Never did get to the Super Redhawk .44 Mag, but had a good time anyway!
