Weaver Grand Slam comparable to ???
« on: April 21, 2004, 04:25:18 PM »
What scope would the Weaver GS be comparable to?  Are they in they in the same class and the Nikon Monarch and the Leupold VX-III (or VariX-III), or are they in the Buckmaster, VX-II, VX-I, Elite 3200 class.  Also, what is the "real-life" eye relief on them.  I hate when a scope is advertised to have a 3-4 inch eye relief but it only really has a 2".  As you may have guessed, I thinking of putting a 3x9 (or similar) GS on a 6.5-284 Encore barrel I just ordered.  While we are talking weaver, how do their "classic series" compare to others in that class.

the grand slam is as bright or brighter than the leupold vari x 3 and the nikon monarch.  I would have bought one for my omega but the adjustment ring was to big.   I ended up buying the 2004 leupold vx II. same glass as the old vari x 3.  If you have an old redfield scope you can call weaver and they will sell you a grand slam for $165.00.  You have to send your old redfield to them.
Not a bad deal.

Good luck

I agree the Weaver Grand Slams are very bright and clear.  They do compare to the Leupold VX-III's, Bushnell Elite 4200 and Nikon Monarch.  A great Scope.
