I just wanted to let you guys know that my new factory 26" .223 barrel is extremely accurate. I topped the rig off with a 6X20X50 scope and shot several 1/2" groups at 100 yards with factory 55gr FMJ ammo.
I then set up at 200 yards and shot 1.25 " groups. I had no flyers at either range. This, of course, was after a "by-the-book" break-in using a bore snake instead of a brush and rod.
I got the barrel from Ed's TC for $215 NIB. I also got a couple of extra forend screws. Ed handed me two tiny washers that were slightly bent and told me to place them between the barrel and forearm. He said he couldn't understand why T/C no longer supplies them with their rifles. Mine sure didn't come with any.
I also had Virgin Valley do a 1.50 lb trigger.
This barrel did so well that I decided to send my 24" .270 barrel back to T/C again. The best I can get with it is 2" at 100 yards.
Thanks for your patience, guys. I know I've been a pain in the a$$ trying to sort the .270 out.
