Kimber CDP II range report #2
« on: April 25, 2004, 02:31:15 PM »
I put a couple hundred rounds thru the Kimber again today only this time I used 200 gr. Speer jhp & 185 gr. Hrdy. jhp.  One box of the 200 gr. ammo went unshot because the AOL was too long (1.275") for the rounds to fit into the magazine!!  The 1.25" & 1.20" stuff fed like crazy.  Only one or two FTFs (failure to feed) this time, a REALLY big improvement over my experience with the 185 gr. LSWC I shot the first trip.  I'm trimming the cases to .888 and  using maximum load recommended for Unique.  What really stood out this time is that Kimber did a piss poor job on the trigger and I'm sure it'll have to go back for some work.  Any gun that lists for over $1K should have an excellent trigger and this one isen't even close.  However, it shoots damned straight.  As a matter of fact I'm not sure these aging eyes will ever be able to take full advantage of its potential.  I probably won't be able to get to the range again for a week or ten days
