Was reading some prior post on this and got confused,don't take much lol.When I get my Huntsman can I send it back to be fitted with a center fire barrel ?******thanx ogo

No the huntsman cannot be fitted with centerfire rifle barrels. It can be fited with shotgun barrels except the 10 guage. What the general consessus is seems better to purchase a rifle of ones favorite caliber and have it sent in and fitted with a huntsman barrel. I have a huntsman I bought outright, and a handi .243 I had a huntsman barrel fittted to. Both shoot equally well. Also in the 2004 Catalog they are advertising the comcos again. This is either a shotgun/huntsan combo or a 243/Hunstman combo. Hope this helps.

Bubba, thanx much you saved me time,money and a lot of energy none of which I have a lot of LOL. Iwas going to buy a huntsman then send it back[reciever& forearm] to get a 223 barrel.But now for plan B, I'll send my BUFF back and get a huntsman and 223 barrel fitted.Oh no, do I get the 223 bull barrel or standerd.I'am getting a headake lol*********ogo

Bubba, I'm thinking of getting a .50 ml barrel and have the choice of putting it on my 30-30 frame (no monte carlo) or my .223 frame (monte carlo stock). What was your stock configuration? If I hunt with it in the ML season in CO, no scopes are allowed so I'm wondering how well the open sights would work on the monte carlo stock. Any suggestions?

My regular huntsman is on the straight non monte carlo stock and the one fitted to the 243 is on the monte carlo stock. I have scopes on both and I never shot either with open sights. Bothg shoot equally well with scopes mounted as close to the barrel as possible. I wish I could halp mor ebut that is all I can tell you.

bubba - did you mount the Sharpshooter on the monte or on the straight stock? Which rings did ya use to get close to the regular Huntsman stock and did ya use the hammer spur?

yes it is on th emonte carlo stock. I do use the spur to ge tunder the scope to pull the hammer back. Weaver medium rings work well on both.

I was told that I might not be able to see the sights on the Huntsman with montecarlo stock by H&R Customer service but I am having no problem. I even ordered a straight stock because of this that I now do not need.
