first 100 yard test with my NEF 357 mag/max
« on: April 28, 2004, 03:26:06 PM »
I finally got my backstop done and shot some 100 yard groups today.

The third group was loaded in a 357magnum case, so I guess the rechamber didn't hurt the barrel at all :D .

looks like your rifle is shooting good RV.my 357 isnt shooting that good.i thought i was in there for a while with some good loads but the rifle always lets me down.i think it needs to be recrowned.best group after over 250 rounds at 50yds is at 1 inch and that is my best group at 50.if it were  to shoot there all the time i would be happy with it.the normal size group for this rifle at 50 is about 2 inch to 2.5 inch at 50yds.this is a very poor shooter in my book, there is no differance between factory ammo and handloads.i do think this rifle will be going down the road and i will look for another 357mag rifle.

i do know where there is a brand spanking new one on the shelf.they want $239.00 for it and it has the pallet wood stock on it.they also have one for $259.99 with the grean lamo stock.i dont know if i want to spend that much for a rifle that i will never hunt with.

i am thinking about getting a new CZ 17mac2 when they come out.how about you RV did you get that new CZ rifle?

Jeff,
No CZ yet. Once I got started reloading, I've let my rimfires collect dust. Once I get my loads established for my centerfires, then I will land a CZ.

So far my 357 likes W296 for jacketed bullets and H4227 for cast. WC680 is a work in progress. It is showing some potential.
I need to spend some time on my 30-30 so I can get a card in.
Have you tried any Varget? I see you are fond of Blc2.
The only powder I have to shoot in the 30-30 is IMR4198, IMR 4064.
I'm wanting to get a pound of something but can't decide which one.
W748 has given me an itch, but it doesn't seem as versatile as some others.

Hey, Jeff, how much do you want for that dog? How old is it?
