35 Rem, Beartooth Bullet
« on: April 30, 2004, 10:43:15 AM »
Veral, Sorry to ask this but getting very little from Bear Tooth. Its about a 200 gr bullet for 35 Rem, Marlin. There is no way to seat to  OAL the bullet has to be seated deep into the case due to chamber, the bullet design is such that it touches the chamber, with RP case 1.9135 length OAL on cartridge is 2.1535, not much sticking out. My question; can these be shot safely in this rifle? The lube grooves are in the case, I have shot 15 no pressure signs, but What would you say?  Thanks Dennis Smith

Seating cast bullets with the base hanging down into the powder room normally gives no problems, pressurewise, and normally not to accuracy, unless loads are stout enough that pressure obturates the bullet base while it's still inside the neck.  If this happens the gas check is inverted and cannot function as it is supposed to.  Severe leading and inaccuracy, is the result, with rapidly increasing pressure if multiple shots are fired in rapid succession.

I can no way tell you whether the bullets you obtained from Beartooth are from LBT molds or not, as I haven't knowingly sold them a mold since perhaps 1995. ------------ Somehow they manage to keep selling 'LBT bullets' from molds which cast weights that I never cut for them, so I'm somewhat in a tight as to how to guide their customers on how to use 'my LBT bullets'!

They have it listed in rifles as execellent for 35 Rem. But the discussion is that its for straight walled cases, 357, unless you want to cut the rifle.  I have your book and slugs for chamber, I take it that a 200 gr can be made for the 35 Rem with its short chamber? I'll probably order a mold.  I thought I'd try LBT bullets before I ordered.  Thanks for the Help

I can cut you a 200 gr bullet, and most 35 Remington rifles handle them very well, in all departments.  Feeding, chambering, and accuracy.
