scope suggestions...

My Ruger #3 came with a tasco scope and as it is mounted I have to "crane" my neck forward to get a full field of view and the scope is as far back as the mounts will let it go, so...

I think it is called "eye relief", but I am not sure, but which brand or what specifications should I look for so that I don't have to stick my neck so far forward so get the total picture?

I was thinking a good 2-7X30 or 3-9X40 scope, with a price range for $150-$450.

Thanks

Dave

Measure how much eye relief you need from the back of your current scope then when shopping for the new scope check the specs for adequate eye relief.

If eye relief is a big problem, than look at the Leupold's.  They have pretty much have the longest eye relief in this market.  If you don't need 4", than look at the Nikon Monarch.

The Ruger #3 in 45-70 is a 200 yard rifle and a fixed 4 or a low power variable is all that is necessary.  I would look seriously at the 2004 Leupold VX-II 1-4x20mm or 2-7x33mm.
