Has anyone tried the Lee R.E.A.L. bullets?? They seem to have LOTS of room for lube.

Nope. Although I have shot the .54 version in my frontstuffers and found them to be very accurate.

However, I suspect the same problem would exist with the R.E.A.L. bullet that exists with my Maxi Ball load for .45 Colt revolvers.... The meplat is too small to use in a lever gun.

I spoke with the factory and was told that one of the guys uses that bullet in a cap and ball revolver. I was told as long as I ran it through a sizing die it should work. I figure that I have wasted money on worse things so I ordered a double cavity version of the 200 gr. 45. I will let you know how it works out.

By the way,
I almost forgot to tell you,Lee will custom make a mould to your specs for 100.00 on top of their regular mould price of 18.00 or whatever it is. If this R.E.A.L. does not work out I will probably have them make something similar but with a crimp groove and in RNFP. If any one is interested let me know,

You need to get in touch with Pidgeonroost Slim. He has done exactly that. I think they are looking for some more folks wanting some to make up and order for 25. They are called PRS molds and are not listed on the Lee site. They make it in 6 cavity but I thye say you have to have his permission to buy one or something. Look for him on the SASS wire and you can get the details unless maybe we can get him on this forum. He has one for 38 and one for 45.

If you decide to have LEE make you a custom mold, I can save ya a lot of time. Contact Doug at LEE and ask if they will make another run of thier PRS molds.......AND THEN LET ME KNOW THAT YOU DID SO!!!!!!!!!!

The PRS mold was recently designed by a SASS member, Pigeonroost Slim, (That's where the "PRS" designation came from) in conjuction with LEE, to create a 250 grain slug specially designed for use with BP in a lever gun. It has only one lube groove but the groove is HUGE! It was also designed to drop from the mold easier than most of the specialty bullets made fer muzzleloaders. Initial reports from users indicate that it is extremely accurate and will allow a shooter to put an enormous number of shots through a rifle length barrel without stopping to clean the bore. The feller that got the ball rolling on that design has reported putting up to 300 rounds through a gun in one day without cleaning and no appreciable loss of accuracy. Reports from other users support this claim.

At the time that the PRS was released LEE only made a limited run of them, for the guy that developed it and a few extras. I didn't have a .45 lever gun at the time so I didn't buy one. I have since made a deal to purchase a .45 lever gun, and am now in the process of trying to come up with a suitable BP load. Saddly, I don' have an extry 100 smackeroos laying around loose. So if you go that route....Lemee know! :shock:
