My brother wants to sell me an older Contender, with a .22 cal, barrel, a .357 Max barrel, and a .223 barre., with a Thompson scope, and a holster. What would this be worth? He's asking  $1000.00.  The scope has no field of view, to speak of. It doesn't say what power it is.  Is there a better scope for this?  Thanks.

He is asking way too much, in my opinion.  Price it out with new . . . and basically you are getting the scope for free, which you dont think is that good of quality.  I do not know what shape all of the componants are, age does not matter much to me personally.  But I would think 150.00 for the frame, and possibly about the same for each barrel.  I would not pay more than 700.00 - 800.00 for all of it.  I think the best scope out there for the Thompson pistols is the Bushnell Elite.  I really liked mine.

If it's a T/C scope they would probably recondition or replace it for you under warranty if there is something wrong with it.  There is a lot of information unknown here, like the scope mounting system, the grips, forearm and information about the holster system.  Stainless generally brings more of a price than blue.

Condition will determine a lot of the value as well as type of the barrels (collector items or not) and the length.  Without information on the condition of all the items you can't really determine value.

Overall that price does sound a bit high and if everything was in excellent condition I would thing longwinters guess would be about right.  However I do like the T/C scopes and they do work well for me.

Thanks for the replies. It's blued, the scope says  4RP on the side , other than that, the only writing is on the  (.22) barrel that's on it now. It's an older model, if the trigger is pulled or it is cocked, it has to be opened before it can be cocked again.  The barrels look like they haven't been cleaned in ages. Thanks again
