That would be a M-1903 not an 03-A3 which is the cheapened WW II
version. The low # 03's had manganese steel receivers which were
improperly heat treated and were brittle and could shatter, as they were too hard, I think it would be best to keep this rifle as a collectors item
and get an 03-A3 or Higher # 03 for shooting.
