I just got a "mother's day" gift of a NIB Browning A bolt in 260 rem and need some loads. My old manuals don't include many of the modern rounds! Thanks in advance, jh

My Speer #13 shows loads for a 120 gr and a 140 gr. I like Varget powder and my Rem mod 7 seems to like 120 gr bullets the best. I shoot 38.0 gr Varget in a RP case and Winchester standard primers. I get sub-MOA groups and the load chronos at 2725 fps. The manual shows a COL of 2.720" however, I found my gun is more accurate when I seat the bullets out further (COL 2.745").

thanks Iowa, I looked on Steve's pages but he doesn't include velocity.He does have a lot of good info there, which I appreciate.

calso check the Accurate Arms and Hodgdon website........lots of good info on the .260 Rem there.
Mine really likes Hornady 140 gr. SSTs and either RL-15 or IMR 4064.

PAL,the wife actually made the check out for me,then bought me a Swarovski 3x10 to go on top! Now she's getting set for a cruise to Florida!

I've had excellent performance with the Speer 120 and the Nosler 120 Ballistic Tip on deer-sized animals from my 6.5JDJ contender. For powders, I like the Hodgdon Extreme powders if I can find a good fit for the cartridge I'm loading. Somebody said something about Varget. You ought to look into that because the Extreme powders really do work as advertised and are stable through a broad temperature range.

Varget is rated as an "Extreme" powder. I use it in 223 Rem, 22-250 Rem, 7mm-08 Rem and the 6mm Rem. Haven't tried it in high capacity cases yet.

Don't have a 260, but from what I have read, it seems like a great caliber. Talking about extreme powders, I now use Benchmark in my .223 NEF Handi rifle. I did use W-748 and H-335. Benchmark is much cleaner and nice to work with. It is also very accurate in my .223.
