.338/7BR Reloading dies. Where can I buy??
« on: May 05, 2004, 09:56:55 PM »
G,day Mates,

I recently ordered a chamber reamer & gauges from Pacific Tool & Gauge in 338 Whisper. I ordered a set of 338 Whisper reloading dies from SSK Industries. That guy Jones sent me an email virtually indicating that I must have a "counterfeit" barrel & wont supply the dies. Any ideas where I might be able to get the dies?? Does he (Jones) actually "own" this particular chamber??

kind regards
Leadlauncher.

Who ever chambered the barrel, has a reamer. Order a die blank from
any of the  sources. I would get a threaded die for sizing and a set of wilson blanks for reloading.

Yep, he does. Kinda. More like he owns the name. Why someone would do that is beyond me, the only reason I can come up with is money. It's silly because anybody can copy it, they just can't call it by the copyrighted name. My one experience with J.D. was similar to yours and left me feeling like a Proctologist. Supposedly you can't buy anything "Whisper" but there are other ways to rope a goat. You can get 338 BR dies, I would check with Redding first. I just got in a set of 30/221 Fireball (300 Whisper) dies from them so you can get them, you just can't call it a Whisper. Using the chamber reamer to make a sizing die doesn't work well as you need a slightly smaller reamer to make the die so the case will be smaller after you re-size it. Using a die with the same dimensions as the chamber will re-size it very little, if any.
