G2

The G2 is not really a Contende at all. Its just a baby encore modified to use the olser Contender barrels. The reason for this is they probably would not sell many if the gun could not take the older barrels. Its just that simple. The G2 was designed by lawers to avoid libality.

Each one of us has their opinions.

G2s take Contender barrels.  They use most of the Contender accesories.  They are called Contenders.  In every respect I have found they work better than the original.  I own and shoot both.  I find no evidence of the "lawyer" design Deaf Smith is so fond of claiming.

They are Contenders.

Lawer designed

The two major designs that T/C removed from the contender were the fully adjustable trigger pull which was elimnated from both the Encore as well as the G2. Fully adjustable triggers are not to fondly by lawers, too much chance of somebody making a really light trigger and injuring somebody or them selves.
The second thing changed in the G2 is the dry fire ability of the contender which apprently few people bothered to fully understand. Warren center designed the contender to allow dry fireing for practice safely and without stressing the hammer. sinply open the gun and close it. Now pull the trigger. this is the exact trigger pull and weight that you will have when firing the gun. You can do this as much as you wish without slamming the hammer against the frame or causing other stress on the gun you sinply release the sear for a perfect dry fire. But apprently folks have an aversion to READING THE OWNERS MANUAL that comes with the gun. You see if you pull the trigger releasing the sear the gun is no longer able to be cocked! You must open the gun to reactivate the action again. But some folks would not having read the menu so to speak would use the trigger to lower the hammer and then trying to cock the hammer again
without opening the gun! Thus causing an accidental discharge. the way to drop the hammer safely on a loaded Contender is to open the action and then close it again NOT by pulling the trigger and lowering the hammer.
Since folks simply could not grasp this simple concept and even conplained they could'nt drop the hammer by pulling the trigger T/C removed that option from the G2 again to save on possible lawsuits.
The Encore and the G2 both require gunsmith help to give you a decent trigger(and elimnating somebody from actually adjust a trigger by themselves god forbid) and force you to slam the hammer against the frame every time you want to dryfire your gun eventually causing it to break but thats ok T/C will gladdly replace it under warrenty after all its easier than dealing with possible lawsuits.
these design changes in the G2 are what I am talking about when I say that the G2 was esign by lawers not shooters and it probably could have been avoided by most people simply reading the manual.

T/C for handgun hunting

The triggers on my G2s are as good as the trigger on my original.  The pull is light and they break like glass.  They come from the factory this way.  I think the ability to lower the hammer and recock and fire is a great improvement for use while hunting.  And the ability to easily open the frame each time with a consistent light pull on the lever is a step in the right direction.

The G2 is a good redesign of a good original.  Had they incorporated a trigger lock, or had biosensors on the grip or some other crap I may agree that it was the work of lawyers.
