First Turkey!!!!!!!!

Hey everybody.  I got my first one this morning at 630am.  It has a 10 and a half inch beard and 3/4 inch spurs.  Not too bad for a 17 year olds first turkey I didn't think.  I have been huntin hard, everyday for the last 2 weeks.  430 was gettin kinda old but now I can't wait till monday morning.  Every early morning was made worth it.  Only thing that would have made it better is if my dad wouldn't have gotten caught up at work and would have gotten to go with me.  I got 2 more weeks, wish me luck.  Thanks to everybody.  This site is the greatest.  I read your posts and learn from everybody all the time.  Thank you.

Congrats man!  My buddy and I came close this past Monday morning, but we both blew that one big time  :grin: .  Then We dueled with a monster Tom this morning.  He was one smart bird I tell ya.  He completely circled our position on the edge of a corn filed.  All the putting and clucking could not get him near us even though he gobbled his fat head off!  Our hopes fleeted as we watched him on the other side of a hill watching our decoys giving an occasional gobble.  My buddy tried sneaking around and repositioning while I kept the birds interest.  But alas a guy and his dog spelled the end for our attempts.  We gonna try again tomm.  It would be a great feat to bag that smarty ppants  :-D !

Congratulations wvbowman04,

I just bagged one Monday, he weighed 23 pounds, 10 inch beard, 1 inch spurs. Only thing is I am done, as we can only take one bearded bird in the spring. :cry:

Good luck on your future hunts, once you get turkey hunting in your blood there is no hope for us, as far as sleep is concerned.
