Barrel Length
« on: May 09, 2004, 02:15:16 AM »
8) Good morning,

Another beginner question for you kind, patient experts. What barrel length maximizes the .44mag potential? I've heard that longer isn't necessarily better for handgun rounds, thought I'd better check here! Thanks, be safe.

I can't remember what the figgers were when i tested mine. I used a ruger super black hawk and a marlin trapper which had a 20'  barrel.
The ruger sbh was 6.5 barrel. Like i said i can't remember what the difference was but it was quite a bit, some one will get back to you that can remember, i think i must have OLD timers. Good luck sir...Joe

From what I've read, the .44 mag is best suited in a 20"-24" rifle. Not sure what the ideal pistol length would be.
