Is the .40cal 240 DC tough enough to trust on wild hogs weighing 130 to 200 lbs. max. (no 300+ monsters here) It's being shot with 110g ffg 777 at about 1900fps.

I started with the 250 SST's but my shop is now out. Can I trust the non-jacketed DC bullet that's 10g lighter to do the job? Thanks.

Randy, isn't that what you used on your Russian Boar in Michigian? The range was at 122 yds and Randys hog ran less than 25yds. I don't know exactly what it weighed, but it ranged around 275lbs at least.

He didn't exactly run (stumble) in a straight line, either. :wink: Still, a tough Russian with no lungs or top of the heart to live on.

That was actually a .44 / 50 300 grain Dead Center, pushed by just a pair of T 7 pellets-- not nearly the velocity of a 240 gr. DC / 110 grains loose T 7.

I used .44 caliber 260 grainers on a couple pigs about a month ago. Read about it in the report below. Great bullets in my opinion. I can't wait to try one on elk.
