Tikka T3 Scope/Bases/Rings
« on: May 16, 2004, 08:20:00 AM »
Hey all-

Got my order in today for the Tikka T3 Lite Stainless/Synthetic in .338 Win Mag.

-- For the line of rings, I am considering either Talley or Warne.  Does anyone have first hand experience with either?  Which height rings would it take to mount the 2004 Leupold VXIII scope (3.5x10)?

-- How do the bases which come on the T3's work?  How will they hold up over time?  What would you reccommend?

-- As far as scopes go, which size scope are you using?  I am looking at the new VX III 2004 Leupold in 3.5x10.

Thanks, HuntingGuy

HuntingGuy,

The ring height will depend on the objective lens diameter.  Leupold makes two sizes in their new VX-III 3.5 - 10, 40mm and 50mm.  One with a 40mm lens you can get by with medium height rings.  A 50mm lens will require a high set of rings.  Talley or Warne both make good rings so the choice will be up to you.  Don’t leave out rings by Leupold or Burris either as both will do nicely for your Tikka.  A 3.5 to 10 power scope(whichever make you choose) will work nicely with the .338 Winchester.  I have a 3 to 9 power on my .338 Win., just be sure to get one with a good eye relief of at least 3.5 inches.  Let us know what you get.  Small groups and tight lines to you.  Lawdog
